What is a cookie?
Cookies are used today in connection with almost all websites and are often necessary to provide a given service on the website.
A cookie is a small text file that is stored on the user's IT equipment (PC, tablet, smartphone, etc.), enabling the device to be recognized. Cookies can, among other things, be used to compile statistics about users' use of the website and to optimize the content of the site. A cookie is a passive file and thus cannot collect information from the user's computer or spread computer viruses or other harmful programs. Some cookies are placed by other parties (so-called 3rd parties) than the one in the address bar (URL) of the browser. This can be regular content, but also, for example, analytics tools or embedded comment fields. This means that cookies from other parties than the owner of the website are stored.
Some cookies are only stored on the user's IT equipment as long as the user's browser is open (session cookies). Other cookies are stored for a longer period (persistent cookies). When the user revisits a website, session cookies will be set anew, while persistent cookies typically get renewed.
Cookies on www.redgreen.eu
We use both session cookies and persistent cookies, and we use both first-party and third-party cookies. Third-party cookies are cookies created by others—such as websites that provide content to our site, suppliers of some of the features on our site, analytics programs, or marketing agencies. Third parties include Google and social media.
How to remove/avoid cookies?
It depends on your browser how to delete or prevent cookies from being placed.
If you use a PC, cookies can be deleted by using the shortcut keys [CTRL]+[SHIFT]+[Delete].
If it doesn’t work, or if you, for example, use a MAC, you should click on the link for the browser you use:
